Rated 4 out of 5Â by MuddyMatt Very comfortable and light to boot!
These boots have treated me well. I've hiked, backpacked and snowshoed in them. They still look great after about 150-200 miles of trail use. I typically wear trail runners but these are my go-to boots when I'm carrying a lot of extra equipment or when I know I'll be going off-trail in steep terrain. They're extremely comfortable out of the box and are light for the support and protection they provide. They're also fairly breathable compared with other waterproof boots I've used.
My only gripe is the integrity of the waterproofing. Both boots in my pair let water in from somewhere near my toes whenever I cross water in them. My socks don't get completely soaked if I'm fast about my crossings but you might want to consider a more robust boot if you need something 100% waterproof. I've had my pair for over a year so it's possible that Vasque has improved the waterproofing since I bought mine.
I recommend these for being light and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by sindex great boots, but get fitted at your local store!
These are hands down the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever put on - and they're light and breathable! But be aware you should "size up" by a half size (I almost always wear a 10.5 Wide, and the 11 fits me like a glove). I walked out of the store and did 6 miles, no problems and no problems since.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by BFrank Wide widths too narrow
Let me begin by stating that I have a difficult time finding footwear. I wear a 13 2E, which isn't that odd, but boots and sneakers are not cut for a wide foot.
I was thrilled to find these boys in my size. I needed a pair of boots for daily hikes as well as a versatile boot for wet weather of the trail. When I tried them on in the store, they felt like they fit. I walked around the store, even up and down the little ramp to see how well they fit waking uphill and downhill. I walked ity off the store excited to use them on the trail.
A week later, I wore them on a easy day hike. After lunch, my tires began to hurt. I thought they would get better as they broke in with more use. A couple of weeks later, I wore them on a weekend trip. By the end of the first day, by toes hurt. As the weekend progressed, I began to regret my purchase.
These boots have a narrow toe box. I tried returning them at the retail store where I bought them they told me there is nothing they can do since they I wore them.
I am stuck with boots that don't fit me, and I'm out a nice chunk of cash. I am extremely disappointed with these boots. I really wanted to like these boots. They appeared promising.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by glom Thanks for an awesome hiking boot that works and is comfortable!!!
I originally bought the medium version of these boots from REI. After a few days just feeling like something was off and noticing that when laced up tight the side panels were too close together I happened upon the Vasque website and noticed the grey color can be had in a narrow version. I had to find them other than at REI as REI refuses to carry narrow boots but all I can say is wow!!! After a very short break in period ( a few miles) these things are amazing. On my first hike with these I stepped wrong on a loose rock on a downhill and fully rolled my ankle but thanks to the awesome support there was no injury whatsoever. 3 steps later I didn't even feel it. I know with a trail runner that would've been a hike ending injury. Initially I was a big proponent of replacing boots with trail running shoes but the Breeze's have changed my mind. I own very high performance Pearl Izumi trail running shoes and after hiking the same mountain in the trail runners and then with the Breeze's my joints and muscles simply hurt less after using the Breeze GTX's. Even though they are a bit heavier than trail runners they are way easier on knees, ankles, calves, etc. I was pleasantly proven wrong as I really wanted the Izumi's to win. Vasque, please keep on making quality narrow boots as the narrow width seems to be widely neglected by other manufacturers. Last but not least I wanted to comment on the grip...I have yet to try these in the wet but I have tried them at crazy odd angles when scrambling at Joshua tree, on loose slate downhills, and in steep sandy dirt and these have yet to slip. The grip is amazing!!! I was able to stop and stand at the top of a steep boulder and film a quick video on an incline I couldn't even climb with trail runners. Thanks for a quality product that works!!!

In fairness, I have a pair of Sundowners that I bought in 1996. I still have them, so my expectation for Vasque boots is high. I bought these boots expecting a lighter weight boot, but with similar quality. I ended up wearing them about 10 times to cut my grass. Then they went into the garbage. Quality was awful. Sole just started chipping away and came unglued.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by sammy42 Buy-it-for-life boot that works miracles
Please keep in mind that the pair of boots that I have are the older version, the main difference being the colors, lack of steel toe, and larger/ more substantial tongue style.
My dad bought each of us a pair of these so that we could train for and go on a 90-mile week long backpacking trek in New Mexico- Philmont, if you are wondering. Once broken in, a process that did take some time due to the boot's strong architecture, I fell in love with them. They fit a bit large, but are extremely comfortable and durable like no other. They have lasted me countless weekend backpacking and hiking trips as well as our Philmont trip all over a span of a little under two years. Now I use them as day-to-day shoes, and I expect them to easily last another year or two. I've noticed that the Gore-Tex layer has worn off now, but I'm not exactly sure when that process started and how long it took. The shoes could still easily pass as brand-new condition if you overlook the fact that the leather is slightly worn-looking near the toe, a problem that probably wont exist in this newer version as it has a steel toe and rubber over that particular spot.
The bottom line is that these boots are worth their weight in gold. They will last you -as they have with me- a long time and out-preform any other boot in both comfort and quality. Considering their lifespan, this is probably even the cheaper option compared to others. Better to spend $200 on a pair that will go three to four years than $75 on a pair every 6 months or so.

When I first tried on these boots in the store they felt great. I wore them around the house during a weekend trip to the mountains. I had some old Vasque hiking boots that I used for my hikes so I didn't get to really test these on some up and down trails.
After several more times wearing them around flat surfaces, I tried these boots out on some steep downhill trails and my toes were really pushed up against the end of the boot. The surface is hard.
I bought a size 8, and this size always worked for me in the past. In fact, I also have some Vasque trail runners in a size 8. I really needed a size 8.5.
Long story short, these boots cannot be used for hiking. I guess they will become my casual walkers since I can't exchange them now.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by irrigation1tech best boot I've ever purchased.
I wear these boots to work 5-6 days a week 8 hours a day and they are phenomenal. All day I walk through customers yards in wet grass and in rain and my feet have never once gotten wet and the boots are still intact. Had them now for just over 2 years and haven't had to retreat them for waterproofing. They did take a few days to really break in but the out of box feel was still better than most boots i have purchased. Ive tried many other brands of boots looking for a pair that would last at least a year and vasque is the only brand so far that has passed and even exceeded my expectations. Great boots!
