Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality! These boots are very comfortable and you can tell only the highest quality materials were used. They do run narrow so keep that in mind when you order.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Falling apart Bought these because I had sundowners before and loved them. These one just got broke in and the rubber on the toe started to separate from the boot. Also at the bend point of the toe of the boot the sole is starting to separate. Definitely disappointed as I spent more for these than others I looked at because I believed in the Vasque products. Not so much anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! These are some really solid boots. Normally whenever I buy hiking boots I get inserts to make them more comfortable but for the first time in 5 years they were good right from the start. I'm also a fan of any product that is actually waterproof! Normally worried when buying boots but I've hiked in rain, snow, on glaciers, and in desert sand and they haven't failed me yet. I've put about 400 miles on them so far and still not a single blister to be found. I will definitely be getting another pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boots ever I've owned a number of boots for treks, extended hikes, and day hikes. Before these, I thought that a pair of Rocky Boots were my favorite; they had held up well and were long lasted before they had to be retired. Then I got my Eriksson by Vasque, and I am a fan. Had them for almost three years and just now considering getting them resoled. A little SnoSeal twice a year keeps them looking new. So comfortable I want to wear them to bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy yet Super Burly These boots are my go to for carrying heavy loads in rugged terrain. The crazy part is how comfortable they are. I enjoy putting them on - like a pair of runners almost. I've had them in the high Arctic and Patagonia, and they have never let me down - super water proof, super durable, super comfy - exactly what I want in a multi-day heavy hiker.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shoelace Hooks Prone to Breaking I usually get 3-4 years out of my boots, but after 15 months the shoelace hook is already in need of repair. Depending on how much it's going to cost to repair this boot, I may end up buying new ones. I won't be looking for a Vasque to replace my current boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved substitute for old Wasatch Got them instead of Wasatch which had that sole/tread durability issue. I cannot find words to praise Vasque Customer Service. As proactive as can be. Sent me shoes the very next day. Vasque acknowledges customer input. My review is for those in similar situation, that is, those who liked blisterless comfort of Wasatch and others, but wanted to eliminate that sole issue (over years, I bought five pairs of Vasques: one Breeze, two Wasatche, with that issue noted, and two pairs of Screes, where second pair is waiting for me to finally give up on previous pair after probably 2000 miles of rocks, mud, snow and dust) So: -sizewise: same 11 wide as with Wasatch. Toes wiggle , and do not get stubbed. I wear one pair of socks, thicker Thorlo Class 3. and I also have cheap thin insoles over original insoles, to reduce wear. Still enough room, witout circulation issues -higher than Wasatch, but I did not find any rubbing points yet, and padding around the ankle is quite soft. Overall, leather feels thicker but more pliable than wasatch. There is also fine rigid protection of the heel. Shoelaces: yes, hardware appears to have sharper edges, but I got a spare pair of shoelaces too. Sole / tread: -different design than wasatch, without those rubber "pins" which seemed to be the culprit of Wasatch tread issues. Other reviews mentioned inconsistent traction on the inside edge of the sole, around the middle. Overall, profile of the tread is quite conspicuous and edgy, while in that specific portion it is a bit rounded in that inside section (not on the edge), probably in order to increase durability, and reduce chipping. I do use the outside edge more on rocks. I like that added protective rubber around the toes and outside edge of the upper. Helps on scree and talus. Was a bit thicker on Scree and Wasatch models. All in all, I will update on wear and tear with further use, as well as the traction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent support I just finished a 50 mile loop in North Yosemite. Prior to my trip I put about 30 miles with load to make sure the boots were broken in . I started out with a 48 lb load in my pack. A good part of the trail is broken up granite rocks. The Erickssons provided great stability and support on all types of terrain. in addition, we had wet, swampy areas we had to traverse. These boots stayed dry . I wore the boots thru a river crossing. I was happy to find they dried completely over night. One thing I would recommend for these boots is an insert with more cushion. the one supplied with the boot is very thin. Just my preference..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Has to be a workmanship defect....I hope I have been wearing Vasque boots since High School (1991 ish) I bought these boots prior to going to the Amazon. I have three kids so I am not always on the mountain. I have literally walked less than 20 miles in these boots and only wore them about 20 days total in a year and 4 months. Just got back from a trip over the weekend, a one nighter, and the sole is falling off the boot. I have to assume this is a defective pair. I am saddened by the whole thing as they were not inexpensive. They are out of warranty due to time but if you saw them they look brand new... except for the dangling sole. I was about to buy a new pair and am having trouble brining myself to pull the trigger. Might be time for a new brand and that is a sad state of affairs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WORST BOOTS DONT BUY Hey This is the worst boot I've ever tried. I hiked over 300 km in them hoping they were gonna break in but they never did. Over 5 blisters on each foot. The toe cap is made extremely small. It crushes your toes together when you hike and it causes friction between each toe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Boot Superbly built boot. Durable, reliable, and all day comfort. I am a large person(6'5"&300lbs) and these bits do a great job of supporting me and a fully loaded pack. I got mine at my local Red Wing Store so they were able to stretch in certain spots for a custom fit. They are a bit narrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Boot and Full of Surprises I needed a good, sturdy backpacking boot as I've started training for K9 Search and Rescue. I also needed my boots to be waterproof, but light as well as there would be a lot of bushwhacking and scrambling after my dog. I had a lot of choices, but settled on the Erikssons. I was worried as they looked a bit bulky in the photos. I was wrong. I was a little surprised to when I got my shipment at how light the box was. Pulling the boots out, they were not bulky at all, in fact, they seemed too light for the sturdiness I needed and the leather felt on the stiff side. I worried that they would be stiff and hard to break in, or would roll on me as other boots had done in the past. Wrong again. Somehow Vasque has managed to create a boot that does not feel heavy or stiff on your feet, but is robust enough to handle scrambling over rocks, through streams, etc. The boots were comfortable right out of the box. One word of caution. The boots are so comfortable that you might be tempted to over do it. Take them out for a few test runs first... not to break them in, but to get your feet used to them. I did an 8 mile hike my first time out and got blisters on the sides of my big toes, but only because the boots were touching me in a new spot and my old calluses were not protecting me there. Another reviewer recommended adding Superfeet insoles... I don't know if that's necessary, but I'm going to give it a try as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mountain boot and excellent company These boots are amazing. The best thing that Vasque has come up with for the backpacker. High fit is great for those long hikes, fit true to size. I went with a Wide size after previously having the regular size. Love them, fit good and feel so comfortable. Awesome customer service and great company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product and Great Customer Service I rarely write reviews, but I want to provide positive feedback regarding customer service at Vasque/Redwing Shoe Company! I had a defective hiking boot, I returned it to them, and within days a replacement product was shipped. I have owned a lot of outdoor boots over the years, and Vasque hits the mark. Great product and a great company!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Boots, Just don't get what they were thinking with the grip So far, these boots have been great. They fit pretty good after a little break in time and have stood up to some abuse. What I don't understand is what they were thinking when they designed the grip. If you look at the grip on the INSIDE from the middle up to the toe, it is great. If you look at the grip, on the OUTSIDE from about the middle up to the toe, there are a whole bunch of flat weird shaped grips which are completely useless when on slippery, rocky terrain and in mud. They are just too flat and not enough edges. It would be nice to have a grip style such as what's on the St. Elias GTX instead. It's almost as though someone randomly drew some designs and decided it would look "neat" on the bottom of the boot. That being said, they are still a great boot, could just use some minor improvements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fit and comfort I've seen reviews that say the toe box runs narrow, but this is not the case. In my normal standard width, my toes have plenty of wiggle room. There is a bit of break in required, but there are no pressure points around the foot. I use Superfeet Carbon insoles and mid-weight socks with liners, and could go with heavy-weight socks if choose to. Length for a size nine is exactly the same as my Patagonia drifters, with a bit more room in the toe box. I compared the insoles and they are exactly the same size for my size nines. Regarding how the boots stride, they roll nicely off the heel and have some flex coming off the ball of foot. Side to side they are very stable, helping maintain proper pronation. I went with the Erikssons vs. the St. Elias because of the full grain leather and minimal weight difference. Amazon has great prices on them with some sizes much less than others. Overall, these boots offer comfort, quality and stability with a minimum of heft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Support, comfort, waterproof, grip...its got it all I owned the same pair of Vasque boots for 16 yrs when they finally gave out at the seams. The treads were still pretty good after hundreds of miles. These boots had never let me down but I decided to try an alternate brand so purchased another pair of boots which I liked a lot. They sacrificed support for weight. Apparently sacrificing too much support for my ankles as I turned one of them within a week of wearing of them. I wont mention the brand but they were top of the line boots with the latest technologies. So I went back to Vasque buying the Eriksson GTX. I am a 10 but went with the 10.5 wide as it felt better, didnt slip but left enough room for another pair of socks if needed. I am very happy I went with the half-size step up. I broke them in locally for two weeks doing probably 20 miles with my dog on easy trails with roots and rocks and standing water. They felt great in only a short period of time. I had bought them for a trip and hiked for 6 days in the Great Smoky Mountains backpacking for 8-10 mile hikes each day...climbed Mt Leconte, which was really fun, climbed to Charles Bunion and along the AT for short little day hikes. Everything from steep to slight inclines. Water, mud, ice, snow, rain, wind, rocks, 20 degrees to 70 degrees (not kidding), these things were unreal. Never twisted my weak ankles, only slipped when i wasnt paying attention and making bad decisions, my feet were never cold, they were never wet even after walking through shallow rivers (4 inches of steady water). They were great. Only problem was I did get a blister but that is probably my fault for pushing to hard and I have messed up wide feet with bunions so my bones jut out. Still, threw on another pair of socks and they were fine for the next three days (30 miles) or so. I HIGHLY recommend these boots for people who want stability over weight. If you want lightweight for speed, these are definitely not for you. They are pretty heavy. But when you need it, you need it. People love to brag about how light they are blah blah...just do what you need to do to succeed and have fun and get into the woods!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot! I've been trail and about town backpacking with these boots for 6 months now, and they are the best I've found for my feet after many years of trying out different boots for my PCT hikes. So far, great comfort and no hint of blisters. I got the wider boot to avoid the toe blisters I've gotten in the past after several 15 to 20 mile days. The real test will come on the longer backpacks I plan for this summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious, Substantial Hiking Footwear These boots are the real thing. I've been wearing them almost daily around town as well as day hiking in preparation for an upcoming trip to Sedona. Leather boots, as opposed to mesh, usually need more breaking in. I won't say these needed none, but I will say they've been comfortable since day one. No blisters, no hotspots! Last weekend we did some sears bushwhacking on and around the Tamarack River between WS. and MN. I know the Erikssons save me from a sprained ankle a number of times as we made out way through lots of snow-hidden blow-down trunks and the like, as well as some pretty precarious up-and-downs on 20-30 foot tall, steep river banks. Through it all, the legs of my jeans were soaked, and my pack ripped from the thick, thorn-covered brambles, but my feet were warm and dry and injury free. Just an excellent boot, beautifully made. My brother in law has been a professional guide for 20 yeasr-- he was impressed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get these! Best boot ever! Slight rise in the heel, Superfeet insert eliminated it and it fit like a glove. Absolutely no break-in needed. Took em out for a five mile hike right out of the box to get a feel for them ( wore a 50 lb pack) and they embraced my feet like a best friend. My first hike had the original insoles and they were still just fine but I'm picky. The green superfeet insole made this the perfect boot! Get these! Rich
