Waterproof nubuck leather and a molded rubber toe bumper are combined with large areas of highly abrasion-resistant air mesh for trail durability and superior breathability. An air mesh tongue with full gusset keeps out dust and debris. Webbing speed-lacing eyelets plus durable metal hooks in the upper cuff allow for fast and precise closure. GORE-TEX® with Extended Comfort Technology membrane is the most breathable waterproof membrane available.

Vasque exclusive Vibram® Contact sole with XSTrek Compound is designed with a mix of geometric, organic and serrated lugs for excellent stability and traction in loose, uneven terrain. A defined heel brake provides positive control on steep descents. The dual density EVA midsole is inspired by athletic shoe design, giving ample cushioning during heel strike and providing a stable platform for toe-off propulsion. A molded TPU plate gives structure to the mid-foot while a wishbone shape supports the metatarsals, resisting lateral flex, for a very stable trail platform.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Runs small When I first tried on these boots in the store they felt great. I wore them around the house during a weekend trip to the mountains. I had some old Vasque hiking boots that I used for my hikes so I didn't get to really test these on some up and down trails. After several more times wearing them around flat surfaces, I tried these boots out on some steep downhill trails and my toes were really pushed up against the end of the boot. The surface is hard. I bought a size 8, and this size always worked for me in the past. In fact, I also have some Vasque trail runners in a size 8. I really needed a size 8.5. Long story short, these boots cannot be used for hiking. I guess they will become my casual walkers since I can't exchange them now. January 11, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very comfortable and light to boot! These boots have treated me well. I've hiked, backpacked and snowshoed in them. They still look great after about 150-200 miles of trail use. I typically wear trail runners but these are my go-to boots when I'm carrying a lot of extra equipment or when I know I'll be going off-trail in steep terrain. They're extremely comfortable out of the box and are light for the support and protection they provide. They're also fairly breathable compared with other waterproof boots I've used. My only gripe is the integrity of the waterproofing. Both boots in my pair let water in from somewhere near my toes whenever I cross water in them. My socks don't get completely soaked if I'm fast about my crossings but you might want to consider a more robust boot if you need something 100% waterproof. I've had my pair for over a year so it's possible that Vasque has improved the waterproofing since I bought mine. I recommend these for being light and comfortable. January 29, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointment In fairness, I have a pair of Sundowners that I bought in 1996. I still have them, so my expectation for Vasque boots is high. I bought these boots expecting a lighter weight boot, but with similar quality. I ended up wearing them about 10 times to cut my grass. Then they went into the garbage. Quality was awful. Sole just started chipping away and came unglued. January 28, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by great boots, but get fitted at your local store! These are hands down the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever put on - and they're light and breathable! But be aware you should "size up" by a half size (I almost always wear a 10.5 Wide, and the 11 fits me like a glove). I walked out of the store and did 6 miles, no problems and no problems since. Rated 1 out of 5 by Wide widths too narrow Let me begin by stating that I have a difficult time finding footwear. I wear a 13 2E, which isn't that odd, but boots and sneakers are not cut for a wide foot. I was thrilled to find these boys in my size. I needed a pair of boots for daily hikes as well as a versatile boot for wet weather of the trail. When I tried them on in the store, they felt like they fit. I walked around the store, even up and down the little ramp to see how well they fit waking uphill and downhill. I walked ity off the store excited to use them on the trail. A week later, I wore them on a easy day hike. After lunch, my tires began to hurt. I thought they would get better as they broke in with more use. A couple of weeks later, I wore them on a weekend trip. By the end of the first day, by toes hurt. As the weekend progressed, I began to regret my purchase. These boots have a narrow toe box. I tried returning them at the retail store where I bought them they told me there is nothing they can do since they I wore them. I am stuck with boots that don't fit me, and I'm out a nice chunk of cash. I am extremely disappointed with these boots. I really wanted to like these boots. They appeared promising. January 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Buy-it-for-life boot that works miracles Please keep in mind that the pair of boots that I have are the older version, the main difference being the colors, lack of steel toe, and larger/ more substantial tongue style. My dad bought each of us a pair of these so that we could train for and go on a 90-mile week long backpacking trek in New Mexico- Philmont, if you are wondering. Once broken in, a process that did take some time due to the boot's strong architecture, I fell in love with them. They fit a bit large, but are extremely comfortable and durable like no other. They have lasted me countless weekend backpacking and hiking trips as well as our Philmont trip all over a span of a little under two years. Now I use them as day-to-day shoes, and I expect them to easily last another year or two. I've noticed that the Gore-Tex layer has worn off now, but I'm not exactly sure when that process started and how long it took. The shoes could still easily pass as brand-new condition if you overlook the fact that the leather is slightly worn-looking near the toe, a problem that probably wont exist in this newer version as it has a steel toe and rubber over that particular spot. The bottom line is that these boots are worth their weight in gold. They will last you -as they have with me- a long time and out-preform any other boot in both comfort and quality. Considering their lifespan, this is probably even the cheaper option compared to others. Better to spend $200 on a pair that will go three to four years than $75 on a pair every 6 months or so. Rated 5 out of 5 by Best boots I bought these boots 2 years ago after going thru pairs of M brand. Before buying I must have tried 10 different brands and was about to give up and just settle for a ok fit. Well a couple days later I walked into REI and explained my problem and the sales girl ask if I tried Vasque brand I never heard of them and as soon as I had them on I new I found my boots. Still going strong. Just a side note I have diebatic neuropathy and my feet are fine in these boots October 8, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by My Vasque Breeze 2.0 gtx gore tex liner failed immediately I bought the Breeze2.0 GTX boot for light weight hiking. The fit was excellent at first. On the second day hike in them, I noticed the lining in the toe box was no longer attached to the top. My 16 year old son said his Breeze 2.0 GTX did the same thing. After about 6 more day hikes, the gore-tex liner failed. Now your feet get wet in 2 inches of water or even walking in rain. Also, the rubber Vibram sole is very slippery when doing any rock hopping in creeks. Much more so than any boot I have every worn in the past 40 years. These boots may be great in a dry desert but not in wet regions of the USA . I would not recommend these boots and would suggest you save a little more money and upgrade to a better boot. Better to have a $200 boot that works than a $150 boot that fails. FYI my first Vasque boots were 1973 Hiker II's back when they were made in Europe. They were the best boot ever. October 4, 2015
