Waterproof nubuck leather and a molded rubber toe bumper are combined with large areas of highly abrasion-resistant air mesh for trail durability and superior breathability. An air mesh tongue with full gusset keeps out dust and debris. Webbing speed-lacing eyelets plus durable metal hooks in the upper cuff allow for fast and precise closure. GORE-TEX® with Extended Comfort Technology membrane is the most breathable waterproof membrane available.

Vasque exclusive Vibram® Contact sole with XSTrek Compound is designed with a mix of geometric, organic and serrated lugs for excellent stability and traction in loose, uneven terrain. A defined heel brake provides positive control on steep descents. The dual density EVA midsole is inspired by athletic shoe design, giving ample cushioning during heel strike and providing a stable platform for toe-off propulsion. A molded TPU plate gives structure to the mid-foot while a wishbone shape supports the metatarsals, resisting lateral flex, for a very stable trail platform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe up to the challenge I bought a pair of these, probably a previous model but definitely GTX, in 2008. I wore them all over multiple hiking and backpacking trips in the Americas. I can't find any fault in these shoes. They've held up through it all, wet, soaked, dry, hot and cold. For the price point they're an incredible buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wonderfully comfortable, but leaked when truly put to the test I have just this moment walked in the house after backpacking in the Colt Creek State Park in Florida. Four day after Hurricane Matthew found many of the trails waterlogged and some heavy slogging was required. No worries - I've got my Vasque Gore-Tex boots, I thought. After about 40-minutes of walking on trails covered several inches of water I realized that my feet were damp. Hmmmm, I thought, that's strange. I've used these in very damp conditions before and they've never leaked. I'd read reviews on this site where people complained about their boots leaking, so within days of buying them left them in a sink of water overnight, weighted down. Come morning they were still perfectly dry inside. I was reassured mine were good! However, we stopped for lunch, I took off my boots and they were totally saturated inside. I was extremely disappointed, to say the least! I will say that these boots are wonderfully comfortable. I've had these boots for less than a year, and have worn them in the Ho Rain forest in Washington State and hiking the Glyndwr Trail in Wales, both without problem. No hot spots, no blisters, nothing. My feet have always been okay at the end of the day and I'm a fan of their comfort levels. They were really comfortable even when they were wet today, and that was after I walked 11 miles in soaked boots with a 30 pound pack. However, I didn't buy these boots to have them leak. I bought them as they were Gore-Tex and meant to be water proof. When I needed them to stand up to moisture, they failed. Because of that, I just can't recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boots I've owned Bought these in preparation for joining my Son's BSA troop backpacking trip at Philmont New Mexico in 2005. We did a 67 mile trek in 10 days. My pack weighed 67-80lbs. These boots never once let me down. Excellent breathability, waterproofing, and above all, support & comfort. No hotspots or blisters whatsoever. I have since used them for work and upland game hunting. After eleven wonderful years, and surely a thousand plus miles, I must retire them. Oh the memories and sights I enjoyed while wearing them. Yes I will be purchasing another pair. Thank you for an outstanding product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very comfortable, questionable quality I bought a pair of these boots at the local redwing store in Feb 2016, Now 7 months later there are starting to fail. there are areas where the stitching is coming apart. There is also issues with the sole separating at the heel. Now I do wear these about 4-5 days a week but do not do anything crazy with them so I figured I would get at least a year out of them. Pretty disappointed in this boot and will not be buying this brand again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retiring soon, Breeze GTX, best boots I have had. I have friends who will tell stories of traveling with me which shows what a professional photographer, who is never easy on equipment has done with these Vasque Breeze GTX after 3 years of almost daily use. Bought a new pair 2 years ago, yet to wear them. Very good boots, Thinsulate is a bit hot in the deserts I worked & in the tropical conditions of Mexico where I am at the writing of this review. However it breathes well, so at the end of the day I still like my feet. However very Glad I bought the 2nd pair to be ready when needed. Snow of the High Sierras, to Western USA deserts, street/photojournalism, night photographer, landscape photographer never know what I might step on or in. Never a concern with these on and less than 6 inches deep of water. I am also considering having this Old pair resoled because of the insides on uppers are in good repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mt. Whitney hike Without a doubt the best hiking boots I've ever owned. Hiked to the summit of Mt. Whitney and back in one day. 22miles round trip. No hot spots or blisters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all around boot I bought these last year and have put over 3,000 miles on them and they are nowhere near ready to be replaced! When I bought them I got a medium but had to modify the end of the toe box because they were a little tight. Break in took about 30 miles to be perfect and only about 15 miles to adjust to how I walk. The only con I have found is they can be a little slick in wet weather but considering how much harder the sole is and how much longer the tread lasts over other boots it's an ok trade off. I use these on everything from concrete to rocky terrain and sand. I have crossed many rivers and have abused these things beyond what they are intended to withstand!
