Confidence and comfort are paramount while hiking in the deep cold. Inspired and tested within its unforgiving namesake of Northern Minnesota, these winter performers will keep your feet plenty warm. Meanwhile, the IceTrek compound provides plenty of traction.

UPPER

The outer boot is made with 2mm waterproof rough-out leather and a breathable, abrasion resistant softshell textile for a flexible, yet durable upper. A dual zone lacing system allows for independent adjustment over the instep and in the shaft of the boot. A lace garage keeps the lace ends tucked away for a snag free fit. A waterproof membrane inside the outer boot keeps moisture out as well as helps to retain heat. The inner boot is made from 7mm thick felted wool for the ultimate in warmth in deep cold as well as excellent temperature regulation delivering comfort in a wide range of winter conditions. A generous finger loop on the outer and inner boot allow for easy entry.

SOLE

Vibram Overland outsole is molded in IceTrek rubber compound which remains flexible and grippy even in extreme cold temperatures. An internal EVA midsole is combined with aerospace grade Aerogel foam insulation for excellent resistance to conductive heat loss from the ground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2918 miles My sweetheart and I are currently walking across the United States and in order to walk across Wyoming in December and January we each got a pair of men's lost 40 boots. My sweetheart is pregnant so she needed help lacing them every day which made them less practical for our needs. Which I feel they largely made up for in comfort. We have had lots of pros and cons with these boots. One of the pros was definitely comfort. They are quite comfortable and very warm. Con, not very much ankle support especially for how far we walk each day along with weight on our backs. Pro, they go up high on the calf which adds additional warmth and provided extra waterproofing. The water proofing worked really well for about 5-6 weeks (around 300 miles) and then our feet started getting wet because we wore through the sole on the heel. The lacing was sort of a pro and con because it allowed us to tighten specific parts of the boot to our feet, ankles, and leg but at the same time it loosened throughout the day so we typically stopped once or twice to tighten them. I switched out the arch support which helped a lot with support however my sweetheart did not so her feet got pretty fatigued after about 5 to 6 miles. Ultimately these boots are awesome for walking around in the winter and mild hikes. If you plan to go on more challenging or long/strenuous walks or hikes then you will want to get something a little more supportive. Again, very warm and super comfortable I just think they are designed for medium to low level hikes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from tight and not the traditional muk luks feel. A muk luks should be snug, not tight. And when opened up easy to slide into. This is tight and does not open up. A muk luks should not be made for performance hiking or trail running.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good boot, but... I bought a pair (11.5) for myself and a pair for my wife (6). I can get mine on/off no problem but my wife has very high arches and simply can't make the boot work. Too bad, because they are comfortable and warm, warmer than my Snowburbans,,,,,but, the lower lace has twice pulled away from the little closure stub....that shouldn't happen even once, and I'll now need to glue it into place. Fix that, and a you'll have a great boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dual lacing system. My right foot is one inch wider then my left due to an old surgery. Being able to keep the bottom part of the boot loose while the top fits perfect was just what i needed!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, but not quite implemented correctly. I picked these up to replace my old Vasque Arrowhead Ultradry boots. I read reviews and purchased a size up from what I wear in my Vasque Sundowners and Ultradrys. Still they are too tight. But more importantly they are impossible to take off. I might have I torn a tendon in my ankle taking these off. I wonder if the folks at Vasque even tried these out before producing them?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Winter slipper on steroids! Took these out snowshoeing in Northern UT & they were great! Very comfortable, always warm/dry and didn't ever feel overheated. They worked well with the snowshoes, no pressure points from the bindings/straps etc...really appreciated how lightweight the boots are. If you want a little easier time putting them on, I'd suggest removing the liner, put your feet in the liner and then put on the shell using the pull tabs. Many winter boots can be clunky/stiff and these were definitely not, they performed great trekking and around town. I really like the style too. Grip was good, but was expecting better performance there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works, it fits. If you use both the supplied pull hooks, they go on easy. I've got a size 12, and it's not a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect For Brutal Utah Winters! I do intensive off-trail hiking every Sunday in Utah. I bought these a month in advance, before any snow had fallen, after seeing them in the catalog, just so I'd be ready for the first large snow-fall. I took these up Snow-Bird Canyon, after about two feet of fresh snowfall. They performed stunningly! My feet were never cold, not even after trudging through an ice-cold river of snow runoff, multiple times. I let my brother borrow my gaiters since his shoes were only 6-inch, so I did get a little snow inside but it never bothered me one bit since wool retains its warmth, even when wet. I was worried that the shoes may not be waterproof since on the website and catalog it only says "Insulated" in the specs, but the description says "Ultradry Membrane?" Needless to say, they are lightweight, warm, and waterproof. Can't wait to take them out again! P.S. They are a more light-weight construction, which you will be thankful for after trudging through the snow for hours; but I would recommend using only in the snow, for fear of wearing out quicker in less specific environments. Hope this review helps!
