These are excellent boots. Comfortable, fit well, good traction, good support, lightweight...but the one thing I need in a boot is that it be waterproof. I can stand in a shallow puddle, and my feet are immediately wet. I would like to return them, because the boots were advertised as waterproof, and I often hike through puddles and small streams. It's a necessary feature for my needs.

I work at an animal sanctuary and I needed a pair of shoes that would a.) keep my feet dry b.) protect me from injury (sticks, rocks, etc) c.) be light and comfy and d.) give me ankle support. After purchasing these shoes I will never again buy cheap boots. They are fantastic. I do a lot of climbing and never once had them slip out on me. We do daily hosing and after 7 months my feet are still dry. Super high quality. Super comfortable. Just overall, fantastic.

I bought these boots for a trip to Yosemite with long, rugged trails. I had planned on breaking them in, but work got in the way of hiking and I took them to Yosemite anyways, hoping the first day would break them in. After only walking around for maybe 3 miles, I ended up hiking with them the next day up to Yosemite Falls (2,700 foot ascent in 3.5 miles) and they fit like a dream. No blisters, feet felt great. The second day, I wore a different brand of socks and had issues with the grommets rubbing on my ankle bone and the back of the shoe rubbing my heel (not in terms of blisters, but deep rubbing). I figured I just needed to wear them more, so I wore them for the last day with the thicker socks and they fit much better, with only
Slight rubbing from the grommets. BUT, after trekking through snow, my feet were absolutely SOAKED and freezing, making me think that they are not really meant for water to be near them. Otherwise, great boot.

What I LOVE about these boots is that they fit my ankle. My ankle bone is much closer to the floor than most people's, and I have high arches. Almost all boots end up bruising me on the underside of my ankle bone! This one manages to be narrow enough to actually fit without giving me ankle bruising. I also like how light-weight they are. They've definitely saved me from turning and injuring my ankle more than a few times too-pretty good support.
These are a bit pricey for the quality- they've lasted two years, with me replacing the insole twice with inserts. I wouldn't recommend them for backpacking. The sole is completely worn down now, after two years. I weigh 130 lbs.
What is NOT good about these is they aren't really waterproof- water resistant maybe, but they were never waterproof.

Took these on a 7-mile hike in Mt Rainier out of the box. No blisters! I even stood in an alpine stream to test the waterproof-ness (is that a word?). They passed with flying colors. Just took them snowshoeing, too. We were up to our knees in fresh powder for hours and my feet stayed dry and warm (I was just wearing snowboarding socks, no liners). Overall, these boots can take whatever I throw at them.

I love these hiking boots. I have a narrow small foot. Size 5.5-6. Very hard for me to find shoes that fit and don't rub. These never give me blisters even from day one. I am a avid hiker, they fit like a glove and are extremely comfortable. Very happy with these. I also wear them snow showing but the front end gets a little wet and I can feel the moisture after 2-3 hours in the snow. Not sure if there made for snowshoeing but there awesome for everything else. I will buy these again when mine wear out.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Kathy52 Heart Broken over my new VASQUE Hiking Boots
In April of 2015 I drove 191 miles specifically to buy a good pair of hiking boots from Bass Pro.
I wanted hiking boots that were water-resistant or waterproof. Desiring comfort, durability along with a good looking pair of boots, goes without saying. The VASQUE 7479 Breeze 2.0 GTX was recommended by a sales associate. I tried a pair on & I was in heaven. Walked around, walked up & down their rough terrain make shift hill. Perfect fir, perfectly comfortable & great look, so I bought them.
I didn't wear them for awhile, but I was excited to when I needed them. I also don't wear them often & use them for general trail walking. Very little rough & rocky terrain, but some.
Now for the sad part; recently while walking through wet grass, my left foot got cold on the outer side. After I returned home, my sock was wet. I went as far as trying to find an explanation. I just refused to believe my $169.99 new pair of water-proof hiking boots were leaking in water. I removed the soles to let them dry & attempted to use them again about a week later. Same issue. My left foot boot now allows grass dew to seep in. Hopefully I can return them. Not sure I will exchange them for the same after reading all these reviews. So disappointing.
