UPPER

Waterproof nubuck leather and a molded rubber toe bumper are combined with large areas of highly abrasion resistant air mesh for trail durability and superior breathability. An air mesh tongue with full gusset keeps out dust and debris. Webbing speed-lacing eyelets plus durable metal hooks in the upper cuff allow for fast and precise closure. GORE-TEX® with Extended Comfort Technology membrane is the most breathable waterproof membrane available.

SOLE

Vasque exclusive Vibram® Contact sole with XSTrek Compound is designed with a mix of geometric, organic and serrated lugs for excellent stability and traction in loose, uneven terrain. A defined heel brake provides positive control on steep descents. The dual density EVA midsole is inspired by athletic shoe design, giving ample cushioning during heel strike and providing a stable platform for toe-off propulsion. A molded TPU plate gives structure to the mid-foot while a wishbone shape supports the metatarsals, resisting lateral flex, for a very stable trail platform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by versatile! Took these on a 7-mile hike in Mt Rainier out of the box. No blisters! I even stood in an alpine stream to test the waterproof-ness (is that a word?). They passed with flying colors. Just took them snowshoeing, too. We were up to our knees in fresh powder for hours and my feet stayed dry and warm (I was just wearing snowboarding socks, no liners). Overall, these boots can take whatever I throw at them. February 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fits great, no blisters very comfortable I love these hiking boots. I have a narrow small foot. Size 5.5-6. Very hard for me to find shoes that fit and don't rub. These never give me blisters even from day one. I am a avid hiker, they fit like a glove and are extremely comfortable. Very happy with these. I also wear them snow showing but the front end gets a little wet and I can feel the moisture after 2-3 hours in the snow. Not sure if there made for snowshoeing but there awesome for everything else. I will buy these again when mine wear out. January 9, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Heart Broken over my new VASQUE Hiking Boots In April of 2015 I drove 191 miles specifically to buy a good pair of hiking boots from Bass Pro. I wanted hiking boots that were water-resistant or waterproof. Desiring comfort, durability along with a good looking pair of boots, goes without saying. The VASQUE 7479 Breeze 2.0 GTX was recommended by a sales associate. I tried a pair on & I was in heaven. Walked around, walked up & down their rough terrain make shift hill. Perfect fir, perfectly comfortable & great look, so I bought them. I didn't wear them for awhile, but I was excited to when I needed them. I also don't wear them often & use them for general trail walking. Very little rough & rocky terrain, but some. Now for the sad part; recently while walking through wet grass, my left foot got cold on the outer side. After I returned home, my sock was wet. I went as far as trying to find an explanation. I just refused to believe my $169.99 new pair of water-proof hiking boots were leaking in water. I removed the soles to let them dry & attempted to use them again about a week later. Same issue. My left foot boot now allows grass dew to seep in. Hopefully I can return them. Not sure I will exchange them for the same after reading all these reviews. So disappointing. December 5, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Issues with these boots I had mine for 6.5 months and wore them out? I had my last pair over six years, I hike maybe 50 miles a week. I made REI exchange them. Boots at that price shouldn't wear out that fast. REI then told me that the next time they won't exchange them being worn out. I will be taking my new pair back again. Wearing again or I will contact with the Mfg, November 21, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Vasque Breeze 2 GTX October 2015- Solid performer but OUCH! on anything other than flat and short I originally posted this as a comment to other reviews here by people who experienced the same problems as I did, but I want to express my comments as an actual review. This is very rare for me to leave negative criticism (I'm generally more of an atta-boy type person# but I hope to save others from my mistake, as you don't really experience the deficits of the boot until later in use. Here's my review: October 2015 - I've had similar experience [as others here] and wish I had found these reviews sooner. I originally intended to replace my previous Lowa Renegade GTX Mid boots with another pair of the same, but instead took a chance on the Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX. It was an expensive mistake and I regret the purchase. The Breeze 2's seemed great out of the box and performed adequately and kept my feet dry on several short trail hikes, but once I began slightly longer/more demanding trails I found them to be very uncomfortable. It seems the toe box is too small #my pinky toes were screaming with pain three hours in on a moderate trail hiking.# Also noticed strain on bottom of my heel and across the top of my foot, as though the soles weren't quite thick enough and the boot didn't have that sweet spot between stability and flexibility I've enjoyed in all my previous hike boots. Note, too, that I have a very average size foot, not wide or with unusual needs of any kind. I've been wearing hiking boots and trail runners for 30+ years #both packing and no-load.) I choose carefully for fit, I know how to properly lace etc., and I wear the appropriate socks, etc., and yet these surprised me, and not in a good way. My husband wears Vasque trail runners and he loves them, but these Breeze 2 hike boots are now relegated to short/level trail walking because they become painful for anything more lengthy and/or demanding. A very expensive boot for such limited purpose. October 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing After going on a 96 mile hike through the Scottish Highlands, I couldn't be more happy with these boots. Even after several days of rain, my feet stayed dry and dried quickly after I managed to fall waist deep into a bog. Other than several blisters, these boots are quite comfortable. August 10, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Vibram soles are far too thin for the price they charge As far as comfort these boots are excellent. However, the Vibram soles that they install are so thin that I wore them through in two years of moderate hiking. Places where it were through were about an eighth of an inch. And I was told that these boots cannot be resoled . The investment of $160 is far too high because of these two factors. I will move on to another company. If they put on thicker soles, I would buy these boots again. September 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Shoes I've ever purchased Let me start with I am not incredibly outdoorsy. My job sent me out into the wilderness for three weeks working on a TV show I wore these for around 14 hours a day, walking miles and miles. I wore these shoes in 3 feet of snow, in pouring down rain, my feet never got wet. I wore them on rocks, in caves, on a mountain, dirt, mud, and sand. GREAT ankle protection, and overall comfortable. Best shoe purchase I've ever made. June 28, 2015
