For those of us not rocking full cushioning, but also requiring more in a shoe than a minimalist model, we craft the Pendulum II. We achieve climate control with a one-piece mesh upper for maximum breathability. The upper is also completely bonded, so no stitching to chafe or rub. The perfect hot-weather shoe? We think so. A segmented TPU rock guard flexes naturally and dual-density EVA strikes the right balance.

UPPER

A near seamless one piece upper is shaped around the Immerse 360 last, a natural last that matches every contour of the foot, resulting in an outstanding fit with no rubbing or hotspots from internal seams. The upper mesh is highly breathable, but with a tight surface knit to filter out trail debris and dust. The Flux Foam footbed acts as a customizer between the individual wearer’s foot shape and the contoured shape we engineer into the top of our midsole. The footbed consists of soft, slow rebound foam that has excellent compression resistance and takes on the shape of the user’s foot.

SOLE

One of the truly unique features that sets the Pendulum apart from other running shoes is the fact that we mold all the contours of the bottom of the foot into the top of our midsole. A 6mm height differential between the heel and forefoot lends itself to a more natural forefoot strike, while not penalizing the runner for heel striking when form slips from fatigue or on technical descent. A TPU plate is segmented in the forefoot to allow very low forward flex resistance, but when it is point loaded by rocks or roots, it locks up to minimize the impact from transmitting to the bottom of the foot. A low 4mm lug height but aggressive lug geometry combines to offer incredible traction in loose terrain with light overall weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Trail Runner for Distance Hiking I wore these on my PCT thru hike and went through 3 pairs over ~2,550 miles. They way out performed the recommended 200-300 miles that most outfitters recommend as the average lifespan of trail runners. As someone who is very prone to blisters, I loved the breathability of these shoes and did not have any blister problems once I switched to these from the other boots that I had hiked the first 100 miles of the trail in. The only problem I had with these shoes is that they are a bit narrow in the toe box. I ended up ordering a full size up to avoid rubbing of my pinky toes, which seemed to solve the problem. Overall, I loved using these trail runners!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trailrunner I never wore the Mindbenders, so I'm unable to compare to them like most of the reviews have. But being an unbiased wearer of the Pendulum I must say I loved them. At first I ordered half a size up as recommended but they were too large and rubbed blisters on the top side of my smaller toes where the fabric bends and the plastic line lays. After getting my original size 8, I was golden. I didn't have to break these shoes in at all, my feet were happy from the very beginning. The inside heel fabric started wearing out really quickly, which some say is a sign to get new shoes, but the rest of the shoe was solid. The fraying in the heel never rubbed or gave me any blisters, surprisingly. I'm honestly impressed how well these trail runners survived hiking through the desert, then rivers, then some snow. The mesh on the outside only started to wear and rip after several hundreds of miles, and minimally at that. I wore them until the tread started chunking off...where there still was some left. I wore these longer than I needed to but they were still comfortable even though they were physically shot. I will continue to use these trail runners, I can't say I had any bad experience once I got the correct size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC Shoes I wore 6 pairs of these shoes on my CDT thru hike this year. They were EXCELLENT shoes for a thru hike. I was able to put 500-700 miles on each pair before small holes would begin to tear near the front of the foot box. My favorite thing about these shoes, besides how comfortable they are, is walking through water - getting them completely soaked, only to have dry shoes 15-20 minutes later. I loved these shoes and can not recommend them enough!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I miss the Mindbender! I don't know why running shoe manufacturers like to put leather straps near the big toe joint. It always ends up being a friction point - particularly for those bunion-ites among us. It's a stroke of luck if it bends in a ways that doesn't cause blisters. The beauty of the Mindbender was the open toe box design (for plenty of toe wiggle and no pressure points -- super important for ultra running) and arch support. It also lasted through a lot of abuse. This new crop of shoes has none of that. Please bring back the Mindbenders!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Want my Mindbender Back Too! I, like the others who have reviewed this shoe, am sorely disappointed. It just does not fit me right, and I can't put the miles on this shoe like I did the Mindbender, because it hurts my toes. I trained for and ran two 50 mile Ultras in Mindbenders (I bought up every pair I could find). PLEASE, Vasque, bring back the women's Mindbender (or make the men's in smaller sizes!)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please bring back the Mindbender I had multiple pairs of the Mindbender, served me well on many runs and 20+ mile hikes, the Pendulum just do not work for me fit and performance wise. Still on the look out for a good replacement ( La Sportiva, Salomon etc) ever since they got discontinued. I know I am not the only one with this problem, hopefully you listen to your customers and bring this great shoe back again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Want my mindbenders Back The Mindbenders were great!! These are so so, totally not as good as the mindbenders.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These run large I purchased these after having purchased several Mindbender trail runners. I am extremely disappointed with the construction of this shoe for the intended purpose. It is very light weight and has absolutely no support. Please, bring back the mindbender series...I have purchased 2 pair at a time oftern...so disappointed.
