A tough, 1.8mm suede leather is combined with PU armored textile mesh and a rubber toe rand for incredible durability in rocky environments. Lace-to-toe closure with active heel strap allows for a wide range of fit adjustments. A plush, Poron® foam strobel conforms to your foot for all day comfort and a wicking lining keeps moisture moving during aerobic exertion.

SOLE

Vibram®’s Ibex sole is molded with two of their grippiest rubber compounds, Idrogrip for wet rock traction and Megagrip for excellent balance of sticky and durable. The supple, low profile molded EVA midsole delivers running shoe feel underfoot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High Performance... but for a Limited Time When I originally purchased this shoe I wanted a "Do It All" shoe, something versatile and would hold up. Out of the box, I must say, these were amazing. They were comfortable, well constructed, have the ability to do some light running and some scrambling, just all around wonderful shoe. The fit and traction gave me confidence on so many various surfaces in a multitude of conditions. After a few trips though, the treads on the soles have worn down bald. What originally acted as (what looks like mini suction cups or whatever) became totally leveled, losing all of that unique traction that provided me the confidence to scale rugged terrain. I'm not sure what to do with them because they're not old, they're in great condition and the sole is generally fine except for the treads that have balded. Unfortunately, I've noticed a difference in traction and the last time I was out a few weeks ago, I broke connect with rock a few times and almost bailed. I'm going to have to retire them because I lost trust in them and don't want to slip and die where I would otherwise be confident in my footing. For this reason of sole quality, I must say I cannot recommend this product. I love the versatility, one of the best shoes on the market hands down for that reason, BUT the soles need to hold up if you're trying to hold rank among the competition. I'm not somebody who can afford to buy a new pair of $100+ shoes every few months, and this particular item doesn't fit the bill for that type of person. If I knew the soles would wear down so quick, I probably wouldn't have made the purchase. Cheers,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Camino Dr Santiago Worthy Bought these for a trip to Spain to walk the Camino. Wouldn't have made the 500+ mile walk in any other shoe. I slipped in a pair of cushioned souls and while other people were rubbing their tired, cramped feet, I walked ahead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoe I had this shoe for about 3 months. The fit is true to size and very comfortable for all day scrabbles. Stick rubber and great fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe for my needs. I purchased these back in April of this year for a trip I took to Acadia NP and I could not have been happier with their performance. Light-weight, tons of grip, and comfortable. Since then I've put around 300 additional miles on them and they are still going strong. From the Adirondacks to the White Mountains, from a light day-pack to 25lbs of gear, they support my feet beautifully. I've only experienced one blister while wearing them. The rubber at the heel is my only concern. I managed to gouge a small chunk of it off hitting a rock and that allowed water and dirt to penetrate into the heel causing it to separate from the rest of the shoe. While not a big deal now (it is only separated a tiny bit) I know in the next 100 miles or so it is going to get worse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best shoes I have ever had! From the mountains to the beach you won't need to change your shoes. I got a solid two years out of my pair and still use them to this day for yard work. These shoes have plenty of support you just have to lace them tight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should have returned it, but tried to make it work I tried to use it mostly for walking. However, I started having ball of foot pain. Tried to use it with my own orthotic inserts (which work in other shoes), but its still not working. Not enough support in the ball of foot area. Also runs a bit small, and its a bit narrow. I should have returned it right away, and now I'm sorry I didn't.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No lateral heel support I have narrow feet and these were recommended by the salesperson and I tried them on in the store and they seemed to fit ok. Wore them for a few days and noticed the side heel support pretty much turned to noting, like wearing a flip flop. Unfortunately there was no way to return them and they are now pretty much useless. I've tried multiple lacing techniques, even tried long laces and wrapping them through the side heel straps to try and add some support with no luck. The real issue is that there just isn't any side structure to the heel, it's like a slipper. Sad because the rest of the shoe seems pretty nice, don't know why they designed it that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stuck on an island with one shoe? THIS IS THE ONE! The description sums it up perfectly... "if you only have one pair, this is the ultimate quiver killer." How accurate that is for me! I wear this shoe as a daily wearer, mostly during the winter (during the summer, I usually opt for the slightly lighter more breathable Vertical Velocity). I love this shoe because it always provides the opportunity to take the long way or the back road home. It's ready for any challenge you throw at it - whether that be an impromptu recreational hike, a skip across the meadow, or really just any day-to-day activity. If I'm leaving the house for the day, whether or not I'm sure of how the day will end up, there's a good chance I have the Grand Traverse on my feet. Tom N, Vasque Athlete Ambassador
